Trent Cotney, a shareholder in the Construction Law practice group of Glenn Rasmussen Fogarty & Hooker, P.A., presented "Dispute Resolution in Construction" on June 15, 2010 to the Hillsborough Association of Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors (HAPHCC) members.
The seminar provided attendees one contractor continuing education general credit as well as the practical insight needed to understand construction dispute resolution. It focused on construction contract dispute procedures and resolving claims, whether in mediation, arbitration, or litigation.
Board certified by The Florida Bar in Construction Law, a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator, and a Qualified Florida Court-Appointed Arbitrator, Trent focuses his practice on construction-related issues, including litigation and arbitration, OSHA defense, lien law, bond law, bid protests, and construction document review and drafting. He represents contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, suppliers, manufacturers, and other professionals in the construction industry. Trent is a director and General Counsel of the Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (FRSA), a director of West Coast Roofing Contractors' Association (WCRCA), and a member of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). He has published more than 75 articles in 14 different publications on such topics as negligent design, delay damages, and defective workmanship, and has also conducted seminars on such topics as lien law and construction contract provisions. Trent is a recipient of the Byron Curry Award, given by the WCRCA, and the FRSA President's Award. He is AV Peer Review Rated in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and has also been recognized in Florida Super Lawyers "Rising Stars" and Florida Trend's Legal Elite lists.
