Michael S. Hooker, a shareholder in the Commercial Litigation practice group of Glenn Rasmussen Fogarty & Hooker, P.A., has been elected to The Florida Bar Board of Governors, representing the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, Seat 4. The swearing-in ceremony will take place during the Bar's Annual Convention in Boca Raton on June 25, 2010. He will serve a two-year term.
The 52-member Board of Governors has exclusive authority to formulate and adopt matters of policy concerning the activities of the Bar, subject to limitations imposed by the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar. All Board members serve without pay.
Mike has practiced in the area of commercial litigation since 1981. He has extensive experience in business tort litigation, products liability cases, trade regulation, breach of contract, and general commercial litigation. Mike is president of the Hillsborough County Bar Foundation and has served as past president of both the Federal Bar Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. He is AV Peer Review Rated in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and listed in The Best Lawyers in America®, Florida Super Lawyers (Florida Top 100 List), and Florida Trend's Legal Elite. He is a past recipient of the Judge George C. Carr Memorial Award, James "Red" McEwen Memorial Award, and Michael A. Fogarty "In the Trenches" Memorial Award. Mike holds an undergraduate degree with high distinction from the University of Virginia, a master's degree from Indiana University, and a law degree from the University of Virginia.
