Trenton H. Cotney, a shareholder in the Construction Law practice group, has won the
Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association's (FRSA) 2009 President's Award for his extraordinary assistance to the 2008-2009 FRSA President, Keith Swope, CPRC. The award was presented during the FRSA 87th Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida on July 11, 2009.
Board certified by The Florida Bar in Construction Law, Trent focuses his practice on construction-related issues, including litigation and arbitration, OSHA defense, lien law, bond law, bid protests, and construction document review and drafting. He represents contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, suppliers, manufacturers, and other professionals in the construction industry. Trent is a director and General Counsel of FRSA, a director of West Coast Roofing Contractors' Association (WCRCA), and a member of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). He has published more than 75 articles in 10 different publications on such topics as negligent design, delay damages, and defective workmanship, and has also conducted seminars on such topics as construction contract provisions and licensing issues. He recently received the Byron Curry Award, given by the WCRCA, and has also been recognized in
Florida Trend's Legal Elite "Up & Coming" and
Florida Super Lawyers "Rising Stars" lists.
FRSA is an association of roofing, sheet metal and air conditioning contractors and industry-related companies, including manufacturers, suppliers, manufacturers' representatives, roofing consultants and others.
