TAMPA, Fla. - Trenton H. Cotney, a shareholder in the Construction Law practice group of Glenn Rasmussen Fogarty & Hooker, P.A., recently received the Byron Curry Award. This award is presented annually by the West Coast Roofing Contractors' Association (WCRCA) to a member who has dedicated himself/herself to the industry and association and has demonstrated the goals & missions of the WCRCA on a continuing basis.
WCRCA is a professional trade association comprised of licensed roofing contractors and related associate members dedicated to representing the interests of the roofing industry in the Greater Tampa Bay area. It strives to provide the roofing community with an organization that will foster and encourage a higher standard of business ethics amongst its members, develop and maintain a working relationship with local regulatory and governmental agencies and to improve the quality of workmanship and business conduct in the industry through education and awareness.
Board certified by The Florida Bar in Construction Law, Trent focuses his practice on construction-related issues, including litigation and arbitration, OSHA defense, lien law, bond law, bid protests, and construction document review and drafting. He represents contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, suppliers, manufacturers, and other professionals in the construction industry. Trent serves on the WCRCA Board of Directors and as General Counsel to the Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (FRSA). He has published more than 75 articles in 10 different publications on such topics as negligent design, delay damages, and defective workmanship, and has also conducted seminars on such topics as construction contract provisions and construction lien law. He received his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University in 1999.
